Yuri Olhovsky is a certified home inspector and a founder of Home Inspections 4U. Yuri was born and raised in Ukraine. He is an electrical engineer with a Bachelor’s Degree from Donetsk State Technical University in Ukraine. He has more than 25 years of experience in industrial construction. Yuri is a resident of the town of Richmond Hill since 1994. In 2002 he graduated from the Humber college’s home inspection certificate program with Honours and since then he conducts residential and commercial inspections full time. Yuri got involved in the field of energy efficiency in 2004. He was first educated in the construction of R-2000 homes and took several courses in building science. He was one of the first 30 energy advisors in the province of Ontario conducting energy audits for existing houses under the EnerGuide for Houses program and later ECO energy program.

In 2007 Yuri was trained as an ENERGY STAR evaluator by EnerQuality corporation and is a certified energy advisor for new homes. He works closely with builders who want to build ENERGY STAR homes in Toronto, Mississauga, Richmond Hill, and surrounding areas from the design stage to the final labeling stage, providing advice, guidance, inspections, and labeling of the ENERGY STAR homes.

 As an energy advisor Yuri constantly upgrades his knowledge by taking continuing education courses:

“Design,  Maintenance, and Installation of the Solar hot water systems” by the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA).

 “Use of energy simulation software EE4 for mid-rise and multi-units commercial buildings” by Sustainable Buildings Canada, a leading Toronto company for the design of green buildings.

 A full course of studies in residential ventilation, air systems design, heat loss, and heat gain calculations, combo systems, and commissioning from Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI). As a result of these studies, Yuri was awarded a designation of RASDT – Residential Air Systems Design Technician.

As a certified energy advisor, Yuri provides valuable advice to the homeowners on improving the energy efficiency of their homes to reduce energy loss, improve comfort and help the environment. Yuri was trained by CMHC as an Indoor Air Quality investigator. He is a member of the international association of Indoor Air Consultants and a certified mold investigator. Yuri is a certified level I thermographer. He received his training from the Snell Group, the largest educational provider in the field of thermography. Yuri uses a thermal imaging camera to determine missing insulation behind the walls, air leakage, trapped moisture, and other issues not visible by the naked eye.
